This species has a small distribution (extent of occurrence = 810 km2) but is locally abundant within several protected areas, with no continuing declines in habitat or population fluctuations, and is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to the Du Toitskloof and Limietberg mountains in the southwestern portion of the Western Cape, South Africa (Bates et al. 2014).

The species is inferred to be stable, given that it occurs in an area unaffected by habitat transformation. Mouton and Mostert (1985) and Mouton (1988) indicated that densities were high.

Threats

It is locally abundant and in several protected areas (Mouton et al. 1987), occurring in an area virtually unaffected by habitat transformation of any type  Therefore, there are no known threats to this species at present.

This species is not known to be utilized in any way.

Conservation

No recommendations at present. The range coincides with some protected areas.
