This is a widespread species with no known major threats and it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a threatened category. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

This species has been recorded from South Africa to Kenya and Uganda. The most northern record is from northern Kenya (Mount Marsabit), but it might occur in appropriate habitats in southern Ethiopia and South Sudan as well. In southern Africa, this species occurs in Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Presence is uncertain in Zambia. It does not occur in the arid southwest.
