Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale

Listed as Least Concern because it is considered to be common and widespread and threats are not considered to be too severe. However, due to its recent description, information on its population status, life history, ecological requirements and threats need to be searched for.

Distribution

This species is known from three localities: Pearly Beach, Grootvadersbosh Nature Reserve and Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, Western Cape Province, South Africa (Channing et al. 2013). It is expected to be widely distributed in the southern Cape and Little Karoo (Channing et al. 2013). The three known localities are those confirmed by molecular techniques, although because the habitat in these areas is continuous it is likely that many of the additional records from the surroundings of the confirmed locations actually belong to this species (A. Rebelo pers. comm. August 2016).

Population trend

Trend
